Express Entry is essentially a selection system the Canadian Government introduced to expedite the Permanent Resident visa process.  It is an electronic process with online submissions which allows for quicker processing times (typically 6 months).

 Applications under this Express Entry fall into the following categories:

• • Canadian Experience Class
  • Federal Skilled Trade Workers Category 
  • Federal Skilled Worker Class 
  • Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) 

Note: Applicants should ensure that they meet any one of the above three categories prior to apply through express entry system for permanent residency.

The most basic requirements to be a potential sponsor are:

• • you must be a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident.
  • you must be 18 years or older.
  • you and the sponsored relative must sign an agreement/undertaking that addresses financial support for the relative.
  • you must provide financial support for a spouse or common law partner or conjugal partner for three years from the date they become a permanent resident (applicable if relative is a spouse/common law partner).
  • you must provide financial support for any dependant child for 10 years or until the child attains the age of 25, whichever occurs first (applicable if relative is a dependant child).
